“One day a man was walking along the shore and he noticed a child reaching down, picking up small objects, and throwing them into the ocean. He came closer and asked the boy what he was doing. The child looked up and replied, “Throwing starfish into the ocean.” “Why are you throwing starfish into the ocean?” asked the somewhat startled man. The child replied, “The sun is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them in, they’ll die.” The man commented, “But there are miles and miles of beach and there are starfish all along every mile. You can’t possibly make a difference!” At this, the child bent down, picked up yet another starfish, and threw it into the ocean. As it met the water, he said, “I made a difference for that one.”
Each year, more than 8 million unwanted animals are taken in by shelters across the country. Sadly, nearly half are euthanized because homes cannot be found for them. The statistics are so overwhelming that you might feel like you cannot make a difference. But you CAN! Just like the boy and the starfish, you can make a difference to homeless animals, one cat and one dog at a time. Please support RESCUE and donate whatever you’re comfortable with – it doesn’t matter if it’s $5 or $50. Every dollar will help RESCUE continue its mission of saving animals that had been on euthanasia lists, and then giving these deserving cats and dogs love and care until they find their forever homes and families.
Your donation will make a difference to animals such as Bailey, the handsome boy pictured here. It’s hard to believe this adorable, loving cat found himself on the euthanasia list through no fault of his own. Thanks to RESCUE, Bailey was given a second chance to find the loving, forever home he deserves. He asks so little — just a warm lap, some head and neck scratches, and some good conversation. Do you have room in your heart for Bailey?
Please donate so that we can continue to make a difference in the lives of animals such as Bailey. We are their last chance. You can make an even bigger difference by opening your heart and adopting Bailey or one of our other wonderful pets.
